Are Your Collections Organised?

BOOKCASE 1

We all love to collect and display the things that matter to us.

Whether it’s objects old or new, large or small; things acquired, things given or things that have simply been passed down to someone. Some objects are sentimental, some are evidence of how you love to spend your dates, where you’ve been or what has inspired you, who you love and what you love.

Whatever the items may be – you are a collector – and it’s important to keep your collections organised so that they are being displayed beautifully. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when it comes to looking after your collections:

  • It’s Not Clutter – But Evidence Of Life

If you ever feel that your collections are spiralling out of control – just remember that the collections you share proudly are collections of memories – whether your own or someone else’s, they allow us to share our life with others. If you’re ever worried about your collections causing clutter then be sure to organise them in whatever way best suits you and your home.

  • Buy What You Love

How many times have you been shopping and found something you really love then thought to yourself, ‘I don’t need that’? We all do it – pick it up, put it back, circle around it, hesitate and walk away empty handed.

Most of the things you have collected all your life are probably not necessary to your daily survival. But if you stripped away all those things from the things you actually do ‘need’ -where would the colour and creativity exist?

  • Give Your Collection A Worthy Home

In order to display your collections – it’s often useful to have the right storage in place. It’s great to have lots of something, but not so much fun tripping over them or never being able to find exactly the item you want.

To ensure that your collections are kept in fabulous order and can always be found when you want them, it might be worth planning to organise them in some sort of specific order. Not only this, but it’s often useful to make sure you have the right storage solution in place so that you have enough room for that collection – particularly if it’s set to expand.

  • Let Contradiction Lead To Harmony

As the saying goes, opposites attract, so what happens when the eye of the collector collides with another? This can often lead to dispute between partners living under one household – who gets to keep what.  Live in harmony, accept what your partner loves and let contradiction make your home even more unique than it was before.

We hope our tips have inspired you to keep collecting – don’t ever let the fear of clutter get in your way of collecting. If there’s a place for it in your heart, there’s a place for it in your home.
