In celebration of World Book Day this month, the team at Shelfstore have decided to host our very own book club! Every week we will be sharing with you a book that is popular within our team, family and friends.
This week we are excited to share with you, our second book of the month – introducing The Girl On The Train.
Not all of you may have read this book but it’s one you definitely will have heard about! It only came out last year and was very popular – it even became a No1 best seller in January this year.
The book is described as – “compulsively readable and an emotionally immersive, Hitchcockian thriller and an electrifying debut.”
The book is about a woman named Rachel who takes the same commuter train every morning and stops at the signal that allows her to watch the same couple have breakfast – daily. Their life – as she sees it – is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.
She then sees something shocking. Now everything has changed, and Rachel has a chance to become a part of the lives she’s only watched from afar. Unable to keep it to herself she offers what she knows to the police and becomes inextricably entwined in what happens next – as well as the lives of everyone involved. But has she done more harm than good?
Now they’ll see she’s much more than the girl on the train…
If that doesn’t leave you wanting more – we don’t know what will.
We’d like to take a moment to say thanks to Paula Hawkins for writing this exciting novel that we found so hard to put down.
