You don’t have to be self-employed or have to work from home to have a home office – it can simply be used for sorting though and keeping those all important documents organised. You know those jobs that we love saving to sort out for a rainy day like bills, finances and all those other fun things.
But when it comes to having a home office, the all important thing is to keep it organised! Organise your home office day counters this chaos by providing motivation to throw away the trash and shred all that unwanted paperwork…
To mark this day we’ve put together three organisational tips for your home office:
- Make sure you have plenty of storage space
While it’s important to do all the normal tasks like shred paper works, sort out your filing system, stationary etc. The most important thing is to make sure you have enough storage space. Things like shelves and bookcases will come in handy for storing all your books, files and other loose items we tend to keep in our home office.
- Declutter
One of the reasons why home offices get so cluttered is when people don’t take the time to throw things away that they no longer need. Take a few minutes to purge your office of everything you’re no longer using e.g. those pens that no longer work, shred paperwork you no longer need, unused or broken office equipment and outdated documents.
- Reduce the number of cables
Do you trip over a snaking mass of wires and/or cables every time you step foot into your office? Having too many can be a tripping hazard and will also make your home office look messy. To reduce the number of cables in your way, put away all that electrical equipment you rarely use, or don’t use at all.
Just remember, the more organised your home office – the less time you’ll need to spend in there in the long run. What more incentive do you need?
