Spring has almost sprung, and with winter coming to an end, it got us thinking about how you can breathe new life into your home.
This could be by simply sprucing up your interiors, or by having a total declutter and organise. Whatever it is, it’s the best way to say ‘goodbye’ winter and ‘hello’ to the sunny days ahead. Here are 5 things to start considering:
Add a fresh coat of paint
Spring time is the perfect time to refresh a room – and what better way to do this then with a fresh coat of paint? Just remember, as you’re searching for the perfect colour that paint often dries darker or brighter than what it first seems – so be sure to test it before you give you walls that fresh look.
Don’t forget your exterior
In order to put your homes best face forward – an updated colour scheme or change at the front of your home can take your house from being forgettable to traffic stopping. The average exterior paint job lasts 10 years, so make sure it’s done right.
Clean up
Minimise the mess and clutter that winter left behind. Wipe down windows, walls and floors, polish wood furniture, dust and organise as best you can to clear the clutter. Just try not to rush it and expect it all to be done in one day – focus on one room at a time.
Get organising
Whether you’ve been meaning to alphabetise your book collection, or get rid of all those unused clothes that are taking up valuable space in your wardrobe, now is the time to sort them! Not only will it make these areas look more appealing, but it will make your everyday routines a whole lot easier.
Upgrade your furniture
Is some of your furniture looking a little tired? Perhaps now is the time to replace it – whether you’re looking for that brand new desk to keep your home office looking tidy or looking to replace that sofa you’ve had for years. Whatever you replace will make a huge impact to the overall look in your home.
Spring cleaning can be a daunting task but you’ll feel so much happier and satisfied in the long run! If you have any more tips you’d like to share with us, be sure to tweet us at @Shelfstore.
