From the 19th to the 23rd, one of Britain’s largest flower show brings you cutting edge garden design, new plants and find plenty of garden inspiration to take home with you.
To mark this great tradition and with summer just around the corner, we thought we’d put together our top 5 garden improvements. So as well as the usual mowing of the lawn etc. consider carrying out these simple garden DIY tasks to help revamp your outdoor space:
• Improve the fence
First impressions are important, especially in your front garden space. Back gardens often get a starring role and front gardens can get overlooked. Make sure your front fence is up to scratch by painting it with a fresh new colour to bring it back to its brilliant best.
• Get planting
Make your garden one to be proud of – you might want to start adding some home grown plants, fruit or vegetables to your garden this year.
• Jet wash the patio
Consider improving the curb appeal of your home. You may not realise that your path or driveway needs this treatment, but once you’ve done it, you’ll be amazed at just how much moss, mud and debris you can remove.
• Revamp the garden furniture
After a long winter, now is the time to give your garden furniture a good scrub! If you have any wooden garden benches or tables, consider treating them to a lick of paint to give them a fresh new look – it will also help to extend their lifespan.
• Add some garden storage
Constructing or purchasing some garden storage will help you hide the mess, keep your possessions safe, and free up space, so you can get more from your garden this summer.
We hope we’ve given you enough inspiration to get out in your garden before the summer begins! And if you’re going to the Chelsea Flower Show then be sure to share with us any tips and inspirational ideas you’ve made by tweeting us @Shelfstore.
